Heartlands - an exhibition of love and photography
KURB Gallery: 310 William Street, Northbridge, PERTH 2nd to 7th December Opening hourse: 1-6pm, Sunday to Friday.
Heartlands is the second annual show by the Photographers in Perth (PIP). This eclectic show brings their work out of the virtual space into the physical space of a gallery. It’s a challenging and at times confronting selection of images dealing with life, loss and living space. Crossing the boundary between electronic and physical, Heartlands, will also feature PIP projections as part of the new media ByteMe Festival. For more information…
Upcoming Exhibition: Dare To Bare
In just a little over 4 weeks, the Photographers In Perth will open their second public exhibition at the KURB Gallery in Northbridge. Running from July 15 to July 27, Dare To Bare showcases almost 40 works by over a dozen photographers, many of whom are exhibiting for the very first time.
In Dare to Bare, Photographers in Perth members are challenged to photograph the nude (whether self-portraiture or a model) in ways that present the nude as more than just a passive object or a bared body. Through interplay of pose, lighting, framing, props and even motion blur, these photographers use the nude figure to draw our emotions or raise questions about their subjects. The title itself is symbolic of this theme: in these images, the photographers have dared to bare more than just the exposed skin of their subjects; the images reveal the complex web of emotions inherent in the human condition and challenge us to confront them.
More than just nakedness, this exhibition exposes images that are at once profound, emotional, beautiful, funny and oddball.

After weeks of discussion, planning and some code hacking in between; the Photographers In Perth website has finally gone live. The Photograhers In Perth is a Flickr based online photo community with many of its members located in Perth, Western Australia.
Although the mainstay discussions and activites are and will continue to be based on Flickr, this website serves as an external news and announcements portal for current and future projects undertaken by the group.
